Wild Animal Control Act 1977

The powers and duties delegated are those of the Council as “local authority” or “occupier”, as specified. Under section 6 of the Act, the Minister of Conservation may delegate in writing to any local authority powers under the Act (excluding power to delegate and to grant concessions under Part 2 (ss21-26)) subject to any general or special directions given or conditions attached by the Minister.

Power (as owner, occupier or person in control of the land) to enter land for wild animal control purposes in the circumstances provided - procedural and substantive requirements.



s31 Duty (as local authority) before taking any action for the destruction of wild animals in its district, to prepare and submit its plans to the Minister of Conservation for approval/modification.
