Duty (as local authority) to have particular regard to recommendations made by the Māori Heritage Council in respect of wāhi tapu areas entered on the New Zealand Heritage List/Rārangi Kōrero under Part 4 of the Act.
Power (of local authority) to enter into agreements with Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga (HNZPT), corporations, societies, individuals, or other controlling bodies for the management, maintenance, and preservation of any historic place or historic area or, where appropriate, wāhi tūpuna, wāhi tapu, or wāhi tapu area.
Power (of local authority) to make contributions for the purpose of providing funds for the exercise of the functions of the HNZPT.
